Clear blue water with sunlight creating bright ripples and patterns, evoking a tranquil and refreshing mood.

Following on from yesterdays blog of the same title and subject, water.

We are 70% water, some scientists state a little less others state a little more,  for ease, lets stay in the middle at 70%, the point being water makes up a lot of our bodies. We also know that we can go many days without food but only a short time without water. Dehydration can cause many problems in young and old, water is vital for our well being, both externally and internally, we cleanse ourselves and our homes with water, sanitation is cleared and flushed away with water, and treated in water, germs are less when we cleanse with water, most living things on Mother Earth need water to survive, these facts alone highlight and tell us the importance of water.

Look at how water is used in communities, in peoples lives that spread around the globe, different religions and beliefs yet water is found to be at the centre of their ceremonies in most cases. Water is used in most religious ceremonies, from drinking holy water, to sprinkling holy water at exorcisms, to blessings with holy water, healing with holy water, holy and blessed water is used on babies at christenings and baptisms to cement the ceremony being undertaken and in others where young people and adults are sub merged fully in water.

Water is used as an integral and important part of religions ceremonies and knowing, as part of ,and at some of the most prominent ceremonies in peoples lives, as a mark of high importance, protection and purity.

As I shared in yesterday's blog, the knowledge, the significance, the power and the importance of water is passed down through generations by word of mouth in many tribes from across the globe. Their common denominator being their respect and understanding of the sacredness of water and knowing that water has memory.

I shared our starting point is water, and explained why in yesterday's blog, our starting point is in the.womb, where we are  floating and growing in water,  to the moment the mothers waters break and we are birthed, then ....................the first gasp of air.

We leave the water our starting point, entering the world of air and breath. This is telling us, showing us and confirming to us, water is the starting point, our breath being the next step. We are to use these two together, and if we do, it will be for our benefit. How do we do that?

This brings me to todays sharing, when you go to water outside in nature, to the sea, a river, a stream, a brook, a lake, a canal etc where you can be quiet and peaceful, when things seem too much, go and sit peacefully and quietly near to water, begin by easing your thoughts and concerns.... how?,.... by looking at the water, by focusing your mind on the water infant of you,  and while you are sitting quietly looking at the water begin to become conscious of your breathing, shift your focus to your breathing, start to consciously regulate your breathing by breathing in through your nostrils, hold, then breathe out through your mouth. Do this at your own timing, your own pace. Continue this breathing practice and gradually you will feel yourself, your whole being relax and enter into a state of relaxation and it will gradually give you the peace you so desire and need. Away from the hustle and bustle, away from the grey melancholy, away from all the distractions, just you, water and your breath...........culminating in peace. This exercise is just as powerful in the home when in the bath or when swimming when the pool is quiet and not busy, or in the garden by a pond.

The combination of water and our breath used in practical exercise as explained above is powerful.

Water is our life blood and air is our life breath.

The purer the water, the healthier we be. The purer the air, the healthier we be.
