The Dogs In Need....

On 5th March, 2019 I uploaded a blog titled "Giving to the homeless" with a quote from Pope Francis ".......give to the homeless and don't worry how they spend it. Giving something to someone in need is always right".
I was reminded of his wisdom as so many times we are told to buy the homeless a drink or something to eat, rather than give them money, yet how much can any one person eat or drink? In the 5th March blog I share an experience, if you have time please go back to reread the blog.
Yesterday I passed a homeless man, he had three little dogs with him, he obviously loved them and they him as they looked adoringly at him every so often,, one can always spot a loved animal, but they also looked hungry to me.
Where I live, Im not sure whether it is a country wide practice, but here the homeless are not allowed to take dogs into any of the homeless shelters for a safe warm nights sleep, they must stay on the streets with their dogs. There is no where they can go with animals.
I went to the pet shop bought the dogs, food, treats and sprats to enjoy, when I handed him the carrier bag he cried bless him saying thank you over and over. It was very sad, this man loved his animals so much he would rather sleep out in the cold with them than give them up to sleep in the warmth, safe.
When passing homeless with dogs please remember the dogs, they need us to help care for them. I shall look out for the man with the three little dogs and hand him food for his dogs whenever I see him.. Pope Francis, the wise loving soul he is, says rightly to give monies freely and not to think about where or how the money is spent, to add to his wise words, I would like to add, and to consider feeding the dear animals.
