"The biggest mistake physicians make is they try to cure the body without curing the mind first".
Plato
Plato was influenced by all the greats at the time that we know of so well, such as; Pythagoros, Socrates, Hesiod to name but a few, plus much more, being a quiet man, a deep thinker whose observation skills were noted by many. A man of great intellect coupled with a deep spiritual side, advancing his outlook on life in ways that others may not have considered.
The quote above has always fascinated me, as it shows how Plato was ahead of his time, it shows he had made the mind body connection all those years back, and without much to go on at the time bar his observation skills.
That then took my mind down the road of Bach and how his observation skills, by closely people watching over many months he went on to develop his theory of the different personality types, and by turning to nature he found and developed the contents of his beautiful flower essences to help mankind and are in use today. His Rescue Remedy is used all over the world and is a household name.
In one of my last blogs, on May 31st titled "Wild Pansies - Welsh Mountains" I suggested there may be another lockdown as such, with emphasis on ......as such. shortly after that an announcement was officially made, there was an outbreak of the latest covid variant in Wales and Northern Ireland and spreading allegedly.
Where I live we are seeing red signs popping up alongside the road in parts and dotted across the County alerting drivers and pedestrians to possible ....... Animal alert dangers , from allegedly ( this from word of mouth) due to bird flu break outs in some areas, and as little information is given prior to them popping up along the side of the roads we don't have much to go on. Coupled with the many unmanned roadworks popping up across the County slowing traffic down intermittently, and the slowing down of traffic to 40 or 50 in parts on motorways, delaying people on their journeys, is tiresome, as we only use the motorways to get to our destinations as quickly as we can.
Id like to go back to Plato, and his quote, for help on what I see, experience and highlight in just one part of our lives being disrupted, driving, driving is becoming tiresome, yet it shouldn't be tiresome, it should be a pleasure and a joy. , so much pleasure is derived from driving, I for one love driving but the many delays can frustrate and annoy and cause me to reconsider a journey, so back to Plato, "...........curing the mind first." Not only did he make the connection to the mind body as we know today, way ahead of his time, but he also reminds us to look at the cause of the many emotions that filter as thoughts passing through the mind, and how to be aware and to correct them, sometimes a support is needed and that's where Bach flower essences come in they seamlessly help as a coping mechanism. Especially the Rescue Rememdy, readily available in chemists and health food shops. I always keep a bottle in the glove box, so when I come across those annoying and seemingly needless slowing down signs on the motorways, for workmen that aren't there, you will see me reach for my rescue remedy.......................
