Latest Update on UK Farmers

The Farmers Weekly has covered the latest blow to farmers, and the farmers despair at yet another negative happening to hit them, their farms and the farming industry. How some will survive and recover from this latest hit is in the lap of the Gods, or us.

On Tuesday 11 th March with just half an hours notice allegedly, farmers were informed that the SFI - Sustainable Farming Initiative funding was being stopped immediately. The SFI payment is stopping. I hear that the farming community are in uproar about it.

With the inheritance tax, the environmental payment schemes abruptly stopping and allegedly in some cases allegedly Ive been told compulsory purchase orders have been issued for some lands.

Where farming goes from here we can only wait and see.

I urge everyone who reads this to please spread the word to support our farmers going forwards. To buy direct from local farms. They are now desperately in need of support, more so than ever.

Farms were partly dependant on their SFI payments to keep afloat. With all environmental schemes going, with the ground pulled from beneath them,  farmers have abruptly been thrown back onto their own resources, but they cannot pull monies out of the air to keep going.

The NFU are in talks with banks requesting they support their farmer clients at this time facing a cash flow crisis.

 Please support them, we must support them.

 No farmers, no food.
