As I walked down the high street with friends last night there were many homeless bedding down for the night, after we shared what we had with them and walked on, a notice caught my eye, advising readers not to give money to the homeless, rather offer hot drinks, pasties or sandwiches.

But how much can any one person eat I thought? ..... then I was reminded of what Pope Francis had said “give to the homeless and don’t worry about how they spend it”.

”people who worry about how the money might be spent should ask themselves what guilty pleasures they are secretly spending money on.
