Farmers Subsidies Dramatically Reduced

For those of you who did not hear the farmers speaking about their personal plight on the radio yesterday, I would like to share one particular farmers plight with you, it touched me deeply as I know it will do the same to you.
This chap has farmed for 20 years, for him it is something he loves and the satisfaction it gives him to produce the food we eat cannot be spoken about highly enough, he is dedicated to farming.
As he says, the British farmers produce foods that are of the highest quality in the world, the British farmers grow the best and use the least pesticides. Whereas foods coming in from Countries far and wide allegedly use some pesticides that are forbidden in the UK.
He has farmed for 20 years and has loved every minute.
Three years ago he received a subsidy of £100,000 to support his farm to produce food. Two years ago the same subsidy was reduced down to £45,000 causing a shock but with very careful handling of every outgoing and with some hardship to him and his family they got through the year and were still able to produce top quality fresh food. This year that same subsidy has been reduced down to £7,500. Placing him, his family and his farm in an impossible situation.
For the first time in 20 years he says he cannot sleep for worrying, his bank account is now in the red with no let up or any idea on where the extra monies needed will come from to see them through for the year, he has no idea how they will be able to cope, even by cutting every possible corner.
Such an horrifically sad situation.
We are told by the farmers union that farmers are allegedly committing suicide and that suicides are rising within the farming fraternity........
Yet, when I go shopping I am watching customers choose Spanish or Moroccan, or Kenyan or Peruvian etc foods over the British produce that is on the shelves, admittedly the choice can be slim at times but I always, always choose British. And Im becoming a pain in my local supermarket, continually asking where the British produce can be found. The staff are very supportive and in the main agree with me.
We must first and foremost look after our own.
We must raise our voices in support for them
Buy British
Things are dire for farmers right now.
Please help them survive.
Please be aware that everything in my blog is for entertainment purposes.
These are my thoughts and opinions, I must advise you to do your own research.
